Exchange-value (German: “Tauschwert”), for Marx, refers to the proportion in which one commodity is exchanged for other commodities. This will typically roughly correspond to the commodity's monetary price but it is, importantly, not the same - you could, for example, barter the commodities.
The distinction between exchange-value and use-value is crucial in Marxist thinking.
