A communist ideology developed by Joseph Stalin, drawing on Bolshevism, Leninism, and Marxism. The official ideology of the USSR and various Eastern Bloc/NAM states during the Cold War, and still the official ideology of China, Cuba, Laos, Vietnam, and many communist parties.
Marxism-Leninism proposes that communist revolution happens in two stages. First, a one-party communist state is established, which controls the means of production and suppresses opposition. Second, from this position of security, the state eventually builds a stateless communist society. Second part never seems to happen.
