Joint contract between Google and Amazon to provide computing services to the Israeli government.
Under the contract, various Israeli state entities, when they want to buy cloud computing services, must buy them from Google or Amazon. These “obligatory customers” include the Settlement Division, Israel Aerospace Industries, Rafael Advanced Defense Systems, and Elta Systems.1
The contract prohibits Google and Amazon from restricting access to services, even if Israel's use is found to violate their terms of service. It also requires Google and Amazon to notify Israel when they have been compelled to hand over data, even when they have legal obligations to keep the disclosure secret, via a system of coded payments.2
