On 8 May 1970 (four days after the Kent State Massacre), the New Mexico National Guard bayoneted a group of people gathered around the student union building at the University of New Mexico. The group formed over the course of anti-war student protests, but the composition of the crowd was mixed. 11 people were bayoneted, including students, teachers, and journalists.
