A kind of wisdom that relates to making or doing: concrete, variable, context-dependent. Knowledge situated in the context of a specific activity or performance. Know-how, savoir faire, procedural knowledge, etc.
Root of the modern English word “technology”, though often unclear that people really mean something similar to techne when they talk about technology (see e.g. Ingold).
